Celebrating the 75th anniversary of its annual fashion show, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago hosted this year’s show in the School’s Sullivan Galleries at 36 S. Wabash Avenue. Presented alongside SAIC’s Graduate Art Exhibition, the catwalk wound through the galleries open spaces as models displayed over 200 garments during a “multimedia celebration of creative clothing and contemporary art.” Designer Jennifer Moy, whose garment is featured above, will soon join a prestigious group SAIC alumni including designers Cynthia Rowley, Halston, and Maria Pinto. Artist Patrick Miceli, 56, works to complete a canvas during his instruction of a painting and drawing class at Lill Street Art Studio in Ravenswood. Miceli was born with a birth defect affecting both hands but has never let that impede his work as an artist. The canvas pictured above represents the cultural phenomenon of fast food in America. For Miceli, the fast food industry symbolizes 21st century America and its need for everything to be “bigger, better and faster.” In addition to his work at Lill Street Art Studio, Miceli also teaches at Evanston Art Center and Columbia College.
